The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) will hold a public hearing at the AER's Govier Hall, 250, 5th Street SW Calgary, Alberta, starting on February 27, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. for a regulatory appeal of Application No. 31097955 and Pipeline Licence No. 62559, which were approved and issued on August 16, 2021, under Directive 056: Energy Development Applications and Schedules. The hearing will be webcast at www.meetview.com/aer2024/
The AER issued a notice of hearing on March 2, 2022. All parties must be present to register at the start of the hearing. If the request for the regulatory appeal is withdrawn, the hearing will be cancelled.
Description of the Proceeding
On September 12, 2021, the AER received a request for a regulatory appeal, under Part 2, Division 3 of the Responsible Energy Development Act and Part 3 of the Alberta Energy Regulator Rules of Practice (Rules of Practice), of the AER's decision to approve Application No. 31097955 and issue Pipeline Licence No. 62559 to Pieridae Alberta Production Ltd. (Pieridae) on August 16, 2021. The two-year licence would allow Pieridae to construct and operate a pipeline from an existing wellsite located on Legal Subdivision 10, Section 07, Township 006, Range 02, West of the 5th Meridian. The proposed pipeline would be approximately 0.64 kilometres long with a maximum outside diameter of 168.3 millimeters and would transport sour natural gas with a hydrogen sulphide (H2S) concentration of 320 mol/kmol (32%). The maximum calculated EPZ for the project is 0.7 kilometres.
The AER granted the request for the regulatory appeal on January 19, 2022.
The purpose of the hearing is to determine whether the AER should confirm, vary, suspend, or revoke its decision to approve Application No. 31097955 and issue Pipeline Licence No 62559.
