Density is the primary characteristic when determining whether a liquid is classified as a gas or oil. In Alberta, producers extract oil of varying densities from condensate to bitumen.  

Every year, the AER issues ST98: Alberta’s Energy Outlook, which provides independent and comprehensive information on the state of reserves and the supply and demand outlook for Alberta's diverse energy resources.
