Three companies headed to court in February

Alberta - January 20, 2020

A trio of companies will appear in a Grande Prairie courtroom on February 19 for a hydrogen sulphide (H2S) release that impacted human health.

The AER laid five charges against Tourmaline Oil Corp. and Topaz Oil Corp., and three against CWC Energy Services Corp., for a sour gas release in near Spirit River in late February 2018.

AER investigators are peace officers who have the authority to lay charges. All files that the AER recommends for prosecution are reviewed by Crown prosecutors from the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service before charges are laid.
