We are seeking feedback on updates to Directive 065: Resources Applications for Oil and Gas Reservoirs. The proposed changes clarify the application requirements for CO2 enhanced oil recovery (EOR) storage and CO2 sequestration schemes, also known as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) schemes. By clarifying the requirements, we have increased transparency for industry and stakeholders and improved regulatory application efficiency and consistency.

The following sections have been changed or clarified to reflect current regulatory and operational requirements. Refer to “What’s New in this Edition” for more information:

  • “Whom to Notify” under the section “Resources Applications Notification Guidelines”
  • Unit 2, “Conservation”
  • Unit 4, “Disposal/Storage”

Comments in other formats can be emailed to @email or mailed to Alberta Energy Regulator, Suite 1000, 250 – 5 Street SW, Calgary, Alberta T2P 0R4. Feedback will be accepted through July 10, 2022.
