Gordon Lambert to serve as Interim CEO of the Alberta Energy Regulator

The Board of Directors of the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) has announced that Gordon Lambert has been appointed as interim President and CEO while the board conducts a search for a permanent CEO. Mr. Lambert’s appointment takes effect December 1, 2018.

Earlier this month, Jim Ellis announced his retirement as President and CEO effective January 31, 2019.  Mr. Ellis will be using his accumulated leave time and his last official day in the office will be November 30.

Mr. Lambert has been engaged at the intersection of the energy business and sustainability for the past 38 years. He has been a leader in the development of environmentally sustainable practices in the oil sands, played a central role in the creation of Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA), has served as chair of the Alberta Climate Technology and Innovation Task Force, and on the AER Board of Directors.

The Board would like to thank Mr. Ellis for his service as founding CEO, and welcome Mr. Lambert to his new role.
